What type of site do I need?First, lets examine the two types of sites available: domain sites, and sub-domain. Lets look at
the pros and cons of both of these approaches.
DomainA domain site means that the name of the site is yours! Like www.yoursite.com! Con: cost more, and
yoursite.com might already be taken. Pro: proffesional looking, easier access, and allows users to identify with your site, not their site.
Sub-DomainSub-domain means that your site is one of many sites under some one else's domain. Like www.theirsite.com/yoursite.
Con: amatuer looking, not as impressive, more difficult access. Pro: cheaper. Many domains offer sub-domain service for free to others. A drawback is that
little service is provided to the user. If you take this route, you better hope you have both the technical and design skills it takes to do the job!
BreakdownBefore you decide which one you will choose for your company's site, remember, you'll never have a second chance to
make a first impression! Does your company need its own domain, a name unique to you? Or can you do mind your name being associated with
someone elses domain?
Alright, but what makes a successful site?
